Gateway

GATEWAY  is an initiative designed to strengthen the pathway for senior students (Year 12 and 13) from school to workplace learning.

Workplace Learning is a formalised learning arrangement set in an actual workplace, with clear understandings about the knowledge and skills to be attained and the assessment of unit standards. It differs from work experience which tends to be designed to give students a taste of different occupations.

Gateway offers

  • new learning choices
  • new opportunities to begin nationally recognised qualifications
  • structured workplace learning for senior students
  • assistance to complete a work placement
  • work placement assessed against Unit and/or Achievement Standards on the National Qualifications Framework
  • a programme integrated with current school based learning

This year we have 50 funded students taking part in the Gateway programme.  Selection is by interview.

For more information on the programme and eligibility
